President
Kevin McKeon
Following his 13-year service in the United States Navy, where he earned the highly respected Submarine Warfare (Dolphin) pin and the designation of Master Training Specialist, Kevin was an accomplished Human Resources professional with targeted experience in training, organization development, and recruiting. He has more than 45 years of applied hands-on experience in the areas of executive coaching, team building, general employee and leadership/management development. Kevin has worked as a principal consultant for The Geodesic Group, his own consulting practice in the Boston area, focusing on the staff development needs as well as for a wide variety of service industries. As a recognized expert in these areas, Kevin has held the SPHR and SHRM-SCP designations, has his master’s degree in education from Penn State University, has been published in the American Society for Training and Development Journal and has held senior level positions in the public and private sectors, including the U.S. Navy, public utilities, hi-tech, financial services, sales, manufacturing, distribution, and the legal industries. Kevin has also served as adjunct faculty with Penn State University and Rosemont College in Philadelphia.
Since his retirement in 2020, Kevin has been working tirelessly in support of two veteran’s organizations, serving as the Quartermaster and Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9539 and, most recently, as the President of Veteran’s Helping Veterans Spartanburg, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support fellow veterans through an organization that Builds Camaraderie, Develops Purpose, and Provides Assistance to warriors in need through their network of community partners.
Kevin is known for his leadership skills, high energy, irreverent training style, and insightful, common-sense approach to problem solving, coaching, and developing leaders.
Kevin lives in Spartanburg, SC, with his soon-to-be wife, Lois, who is actively planning their wedding in May 2026.

Vice President
Terry Farmer
Terry grew up here in the Spartanburg area. Terry spent 26 years on active duty with the United States Navy, and then 20 years of government contract work.
“Now that I am fully retired, I finally have time to help those who haven’t been as fortunate as I have.”
Terry currently serves as the Vice-President of Vets Helping Vets Spartanburg. In this capacity, Terry also heads up our fundraising efforts at the Spartanburgers baseball stadium.

Secretary
Todd Carpenter
Todd Carpenter joined the Army right out of Travelers Rest High School here in Greenville County in 1981.
Todd then reenlisted to attend Special Forces Training at Fort Bragg, NC. En route to Fort Bragg, Todd attended Basic Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Todd left the Army in 1995 after sustaining a career-ending injury during military free-fall operations. His military career began as a Combat Engineer with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and the 1st Cavalry Division. He volunteered for Special Forces in 1985, and after completion of the Special Forces Qualification Course, he was assigned as a Communications Sergeant to Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) 062, with the 10th Special Forces Group.
Todd is married to Debbie Carpenter, and they have two children and three grandchildren.

Keith Copeland
Born and raised in Texas, joined the Navy in 1982 and retired in 2005 at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer (E8). Served on 4 ships/Subs, USS McCloy FF-1038, USS Cavalla SSN 684, USS Chancellorsville CG-62, and USS Shiloh CG-67. Also served at Fleet Technical Support Center Pacific, San Diego(FTSPAC), and Surface Warfare Officer School, Newport, RI. Graduated from Roger Williams University in 2015 with a Bachelor's in Industrial Technology/Engineering.

Member at Large
Sarah Franco
Sarah Franco is an Air Force veteran who served from 1993 to 1999. Her training was in Public Affairs, and she worked for Stars and Stripes for four years after leaving the Air Force. She is currently involved with various veterans’ groups and offers her input as the Member at Large, a nonvoting position on the Vets Helping Vets Spartanburg board.
